I was born and raised in central Connecticut. When I am at home, I still live in the same house I went to when I came home from the hospital after I was born.
I started traveling very early in life. Starting when I was about 6 months old when we traveled to Disney World in Florida, I have not stopped traveling since. As a young boy, every summer my mom, grandma, brother and I would pile into our Ford Clubwagon full size van and drive around the country for six to eight weeks. Through those summer vacations I have visited all 50 states, nearly every province of Canada, and the border of Mexico.
I definitely do not remember every single thing we visited during those trips, but I do remember lots of the things we did. Some of the things that do stand out in my mind include driving through Yellowstone National Park when it was on fire, visiting Hawaii, driving on the Top of the World Highway in Alaska, standing at the geographic center of North America (across the street from some gas station), seeing the giant redwoods and sequoias in various National Parks, visiting the Cactus Gardens in the deserts of the Midwest, and many other things.
After the summers of traveling ended, I spent a week or two each summer at YMCA Camp Hazen in Chester, Connecticut. The camp experience is vastly different than the traveling I was used to. I enjoyed going to camp for the week I was there, but having fun was definitely more difficult when the other people in your cabin were not as happy about being at camp. I did lots of fun things at camp: archery, sailing, rock climbing, hiking, tennis. After a few years I was too old to keep attending this camp so I spent my summers at home for the whole summer.
When I was 13 I joined the International Order of DeMolay (see here for more of my DeMolay Info). As a member of Marcus Holcomb chapter and later of Doric Chapter, I had many fun years with DeMolay. The experiences I had with DeMolay have prepared me to handle lots of life's difficulties and how to do planning and other leadership tasks. I would never exchange these years of experience for anything.
After completing high school, I continue my education at Brandeis University. My other academic information can be found here. In a nutcase, I obtained a BS in Physics and Computer Science in May 2006. I am now attending Carnegie Mellon University working towards a Physics Ph.D.
